For Stafford Loans and private/auxiliary loans -

  • Contact the lender you chose when borrowing the loan
  • Look up your loan history information via https://studentaid.gov
  • Obtain a credit report from a credit bureau. Free credit reports are available annually from each of the three reporting agencies through www.annualcreditreport.com

For Direct Loans -

For loans borrowed while attending other schools or while attending UCLA prior to 1987 -

  • Contact the financial aid office of the school you were attending when you took out the loan
  • Contact the lender you chose when borrowing the loan
  • Retrieve your federal and some school-based loan information through a loan summary provided by the National Student Loan Data System (see above)
  • Obtain a credit report. It will contain all of your loans as well as other consumer debt. Free credit reports are available annually from each of the three reporting agencies through www.annualcreditreport.com\
